Things I do when the boyfriend is gone...again

1. eat at odd hours, if I eat
2. bake 4 dozen cookies in the middle of the night
3. play with the bf's computer and look through all the fun files he has

4. eat cookies for dinner and lunch
5. knit a hat:

Cabled Hat

Pattern: Cabled (pdf)
Yarn: Malabrigo Merino in Sealing Wax
Needles: Addi Turbos 4.5mm

I could have finished this last night if it wasn't for number 2 and 3 in the list. I needed a quick knit before I dive back into 'sockpal: the sequel'. Seems I knit this at the right time, today has been a cloudy and cold day. Apparently it's going to be like this the whole week. I'll gladly wear this hat every day, it's super soft and fits me perfectly.

I didn't mean to make any mods, but maybe my bad mojo got into this knit. In the increase round I made a new stitch between every stitch, resulting in 7 pattern repeats instead of the stated 6. I'm not sure if I did that wrong or not. I also omitted the pompom out of sheer laziness.

6. watch an episode or two of "our shows" without him
7. get mad when he mentions seeing meredith knit while he changes the channels at hotel (I haven't seen this episode yet, so everyone just stop talking about it or add a spoiler alert!)
8. watch 'good night and good luck' and wonder if I liked it or not. still not sure
9. actually do the dishes and keep the apartment reasonably clean (this will all change once he's back)
10. listen to all the new podcasts and develop a mild crush on Ricky Gervais

We are on the same page with the list!!

Why is it that I'm more eager to clean when Isaac is gone? Hmmm!

The hat looks great! I'm sure it's super soft & cozy!

Oh & speaking of crushes did you see there are new Episodes of "No Reservations"? Tonight at 10!!

I love the hat. Very nice.

I haven't seen Good Night and Good Luck, but I have plans too. Why aren't you sure about it?

"look through all the fun files he has". UH OH. He is so busted.

I bet you have romantic dreams where Ricky Gervais is singing "If You Don't Know Me By Now"...

I mildly liked Good Night and Good Luck. It could have been better, but hey, it's a lot higher quality than most of the films out there.

So glad to hear you are keeping yourself so busy while he is gone...

love the hat...

felt the same way about the movie, but my mum told me she thought I was "enh" about it cuz the topic is too removed from my experience... now her generation (mid-60s) are loving it... and they were teenagers when the whole McCarthy thing was happening... dunno.. .

So now, back to the hat, does handpainted yarn.com place still sell Malabrigo? I have never seen it on their site...

Ricky Gervais, huh... am not even sure who he is... but you got some strong responses about that crush...

The hat is great! And what a fabulous color name, "Sealing Wax."

Hmm, I hope you get some actual nutrients in there somewhere. ;)

Don't tell him, but I love when the BF goes away for a week or so. No extra messes, the place is neat. Even less dusty, if that's possible. Totally go get a spooky movie, and watch it by yourself in the mid of the night, knitting goes sooo much faster!!

oh, what a cute hat. what a cute hat, indeed! Looks very comfy and pretty all that the same time.

what little desire and interest I had to see "Good Night and Good Luck" was G-O-N-E after George Clooney's acceptance speech at the Oscars. Stupid smug mofo. Will you get over yourself one of these days and spare me? Willya?

Sorry, I digress. :P BTW, you going to Maryland Sheep and Wool?

Thanks for making me feel better about my taxes. Glad to know I am not alone.

The color Sealing Wax is hot! Nice cables.

Number one is my thing, too, when my DH is away on business. But I make the place a mess and not pick up after myself and then clean up like a mad woman before he arrives home.

OMG - when DH is out of town I live on cereal and toast. Too funny!

Also - love the hat. The cables are more interesting than the "Basic Cable" that I've seen so much of. Gotta give that pattern (and the Malabrigo) a try.

Lovely hat and a gorgeous vibrant color. The name "Sealing Wax" alone would totally have made me buy it.

Gorgeous hat!! I love the colorway. I had to laugh at your list... eating cookies for breakfast, lunch and dinner (and then secretly feeding them to the kids) is the only good part about the DH going on business trips. ;-) Hope all is well with you... take care! :-)
